AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS RECOVERED STRONGLY, EARNING MORE THAN 47.8 BILLION USD
The latest report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shows that in November 2023, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports are estimated to reach 4.79 billion USD, up 0.3% compared to October 2023 and up 13% compared to January. November 2022.
Worth mentioning, all product groups have positive growth compared to November 2022. Specifically, agricultural exports reached 2.49 billion USD, an increase of 24.7%; livestock reached 41 million USD, an increase of 9.7%; forest products 1.29 billion USD, up 2.8%; seafood 800 million USD, up 1.4%…
Cumulatively in the first 11 months of 2023, the export turnover of the entire agricultural sector is estimated to reach 47.84 billion USD, a slight decrease of 2.7% over the same period last year. Of which, seafood was 8.24 billion USD, down 18.9%; forest products 13.02 billion USD, down 17%; production input 1.82 billion USD, down 17.8%.
The agricultural products group alone reached 24.3 billion USD, up 17.1% over the same period last year. Specifically, fruit and vegetable exports reached 5.32 billion USD, an increase of 74.5%; rice 4.41 billion USD, up 36.3%; cashew nuts 3.31 billion USD, up 17.4%; cereal products 1.08 billion USD, an increase of 5.4%. Livestock products 453 million USD, an increase of 23.5%.
To date, agriculture has 6 product groups with an export value of over 3 billion USD, including: coffee, rice, vegetables, cashew nuts, shrimp, wood and wooden products.
The average export price of some main agricultural products increased sharply such as: Rice price 568 USD/ton, up 17.3%; tea 1,750 USD/ton, up 8.7%, coffee 2,570 USD/ton, up 11.9%.
Regarding markets, China, the US and Japan continue to remain the three largest export markets of Vietnamese agricultural products. Accordingly, the export value to China increased by 18%, accounting for 23.2% of the total export turnover of the agricultural sector; Exports to the US decreased by 17.9%, accounting for 20.6%; Exports to Japan decreased by 9.1%, accounting for 7.4%.
In the first 11 months of 2023, the agricultural industry’s trade surplus is 10.55 billion USD, an increase of 33.7% over the same period last year.
In December, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continued to handle market issues to create favorable conditions for the export of agricultural and aquatic products, especially to the markets of China, the US, the EU, and the Eurasian economic union. …
Along with that, take advantage of FTAs, especially the CPTPP and EVFTA Agreements, to promote the export of key agricultural, forestry and fishery products and support businesses in signing new export orders. Coordinate support for trademark and geographical indication protection for Vietnam’s potential export products abroad.
